  1. Very sorry to read about all of your issues @Chazz. Strange one on the warranty. Got mine done by Leonard (before I saw this thread obviously ) in April and he gave me 24 Months on it. Suppose it doesn't matter anyway, I know you've said you wouldn't go back either way.

What Have You Done to Your RX Today?

Good Question! I didn't actually bother wiring it up as I never use it to be honest, but from what I can tell online it's been hit and miss for people that have tried it, so I wasn't arsed. The biggest issue I actually had was trying to fit the new radio, metra box, and the clusterf*ck of wires in the radio bay. I'm not opening it up again for the steering wheel controls!

What Have You Done to Your RX Today?

@littlefeck yeah one of the autopumpkin ones: http://www.autopumpkin.co.uk/android-6-0-car-dvd/universal-android-6-0-car-radio/pumpkin-6-2-multi-touch-screen-quad-core-1-6ghz-android-6-0-marshmallow-car-dvd-player-support-phone-mirroring-steering-wheel-control-3g-wifi-obd2.html really happy with it. Kind of chanced getting the matte finish over the gloss, but delighted I did as I hate the stock gloss finish on some of the plastic in the cabin. Might try and source some red & black leather seats now, and that might be it for the interior tinkering. .....For now!

What Have You Done to Your RX Today?

Finally got around to installing the metra kit and android radio unit I ordered. Turned out to be a bitch of a job, but in the end happy enough with the results:

What Have You Done to Your RX Today?

Just dropped mine off to the rebuild fairy, so not really something I've done, but all the same Looking forward to driving a fresh motor in a few weeks, then on to tackle the rust!
  7. Hah it is and all, I was going to send them a text today to see how they were getting on, but I guess I can just watch the video instead
  8. Thanks again for all your help Rex. Mazda told me the recall had already been done, so no joy there. However, got in touch with the fixyourride boys and dropped my RX up to them day before yesterday. Turns out they're only 5 minutes away from me in Galway, which was lucky as I'm pretty sure I was leaving a wacky races-style oil trail behind me . Cheers!
  9. Right, I'll wait and see what Mazda have to say for themselves. In the meantime, I'll start looking at doing them up myself. Is there a particular garage or mechanic anyone could recommend in Galway or fairly close by if I ended up having to bring it somewhere? I can't bring my RX8 too far with oil leaking out of it like a tap Cheers again for all of your help @Rex Ruthor I'd be lost otherwise.
  10. @Rex Ruthor there is oil in the arch: Wheel Arch . I also did my best to get a shot of the cooler lines, but they're obviously not in a convenient location: Cooler lines. I found a sticker under the bonnet that had a "Vehicle recall" on it, with 2 Ids: R2005/114 & R2005/115. I punched those in to google and got this back: https://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/search.asp?cboStartMonth=1&cboStartYear=1992&cboEndMonth=1&cboEndYear=2020&cboMake=MAZDA&cboModel=RX8&cboSortOrder=rec_launch_date&cboAscDesc=ASC&PageSize=10&tx=8.671206E-02&newsearch=newsearch Not sure if that means my RX has already had that recall you mentioned earlier or not, I'm waiting for Mazda to get back to me on that email (I imagine that'll be tomorrow before it gets looked at). The other thing is that while they are covered in oil, I couldn't see any obvious signs of corrosion on the lines, but it is difficult to get a good look at them. Cheers again for all of your help. P.S. I have previously contacted my local Mazda dealer (Windsor Motors Galway) about taking a look at my RX, only to be told "We don't have the equipment needed to run diagnostics, you'd only be able to do that in Dublin". I presume they mean a compression tester, but is it that common that a Mazda dealer would not even look at a rotary, or did I just get unlucky with the fella that answered the phone when I rang?
  11. Cheers Rex, I'll get on to Mazda about that now, fairly sure the airbags haven't been done either.
  12. Hey all, Happy new year. Unfortunately I'm having another issue with my RX8 and my new years resolution is to fix it I'm having a fairly serious oil leak, on the passenger side, almost right behind the wheel. It doesn't seem to leak when the car is off, but when she's on it leaks fairly quickly (about 1 drop every 5 seconds). From reading online, I think it might be an issue with one of the seals, but I wanted to throw it up here and see if you had any feedback. I've uploaded some images : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8ThBI30NB5lVExfNVBNZnVfV3c/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8ThBI30NB5lZXdMQ3ptUF8ydnM/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8ThBI30NB5lZXdMQ3ptUF8ydnM/view?usp=drivesdk In the last one you can kind of see the oil glinting in the light, that was taken leaning over the passenger wheel.
  13. Good news lads, I got her opened up, cleaned out the throttle body and surrounding areas, and reset the ECU. Left her for 15-20 minutes of coughing and spluttering, and eventually she was sound Drove her a couple of times during the week to make sure, and redlined yesterday, no issues. Thanks a lot for your help!
  14. So I'd checked the oil level earlier in the week, bang on half way, but I'll triple check it again before I start her up. Where do you get your MAF cleaner? Having trouble finding it on MicksGarage at the minute.
  15. Right, so I managed to get some pictures of the Throttle body and the intake, I've shared them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8ThBI30NB5lMDFkR2JfTEdYQkU?usp=sharing There's also some pictures of the smoke there, but it is a bit faint. Dartz I'll take a look at the MAF tomorrow or over the weekend. Thanks again lads, I really appreciate the help!
